When you are about to embark on a fabulous creation, make it with paper first--so you don't waste any of your valuable duct tape.

When cutting duct tape, keep the sticky side up--it will stick to the scissors less.

For small, fancy work, use a glass mat with a craft knife. The tape pulls easily off the glass surface without leaving a sticky residue and, you can cut very small details into the tape without wanting to crunch up all of it and throw it at your at your brother.

When buying duct tape, make sure it is at least 9 or 10 mil in strength.

2" is the width of choice, unless you are planning a large project, in which case, use the 3" width tape.

Make sure you are comparing tape of the same length per roll when pricing; the 60 yard rolls are the most cost effective.

Shipping is usually going to be expensive because--duh--duct tape is heavy.

Duct tape fashion A place to buy your duct tape in bulk. Lots of colors to choose from; they even have the camouflage and safety site tapes. Shipping costs approx. $15 for 12 rolls.

Staples Staples sells three rolls of one color for $33, and have a choice of five colors. We especially love their transparent tape. If you buy the Scotch tape, remember that it is 1.88" wide rather than the usual 2" wide. They have their own brand of duct tape. Their shipping is free at times.

Find Tape have a good selection of lesser known (= cheaper) brands.

Tape Monster  we think these guys have Shurtape at the best price. Shipping is slightly less than the sites above. Lots of colors.

The Tape Depot 17 colors and free shipping over $50. 

Identitape have a huge selection of colors and the prices are great. Shipping is via UPS. 

Michaels usually have a select number of 15 yard rolls of Duck tape for $2.99 each. While you can't buy it online from them, they do have a photo of their colors, and they also have instructions for making a very simple wallet and flower.

Your local Walmart may or may not have a good stock of various colors of Duck tape. You will find them in the painting dept. @ $2.99 for 20 yards.
